The President Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, led the commissioning of the $2.5bn fertilizer plant in Lagos. The plant with a capacity to produce 3 million tonnes of urea per year is the biggest in Africa. Upon the commissioning of the fertilizer plant, Dangote Group President, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, in the company of the President and other dignitaries, led a tour of the massive refinery. The refinery has a 650,000 barrels daily refined oil capacity. The President also stated that “A refinery of this size will be able to produce petroleum products for domestic consumption and exports to neighboring countries.”
